bad hardware mojo

January 10, 2002 under Computers, Hardware

In my last .plan entry here, I welcomed everyone back. It was my first .plan enty of the new year and I was glad to be back from the holiday hiatus. Now, I must say “welcome back” again. I’ve just begun to reinstall my Windows XP Pro partition. Why? Hard drive problems can be a pain. Norton Disk Doctor 2002 detected errors with the NTFS indexes and MFT on Sunday (January 6th). It appeared to correct them after running a chkdsk, but after rebooting it detected the same errors. This process would always repeat. Then my Windows XP Pro CD was scratched so I had to replace that. Dena and I got by thanks to my RedHat Linux 7.2 partition so checking e-mail wasn’t a problem, even if we are a little behind in replying 🙂 It’s been a period of bad hardware mojo around me. Barry had hard drive problems as well along with his cousin’s computer (which Barry relies on for Internet connectivity). Even at work, our IT guy has seen lots of hardware fail before his eyes latley. This is scary stuff, folks. I’m affraid to even be close to a microwave right now 😉

In other news…it’s effen warm. Why? It’s January and in Kitchener today it’s 5 degrees Celsius. Hell, in Timmins right now it’s 1 degree Celsius. That’s not right folks. It’s obvious that we’re harming our environment. That’s even scarier than that bad hardware mojo that’s going around.

On the technical/geek front, I will introduce a new archiving method for these .plan files of mine that you’re reading right now. I’ll develop a nifty Perl script that will organize them by month or something like that. Also, Dena and I are in the market for a new TV. The DVD player that she got me for Christmas required a TV with A/V inputs and none of our TVs have them. When I setup PayPal on this site to accept donations for the software I’ve developed in my free time, maybe we’ll get the TV 🙂 Yes, PayPal on ChrisBellini.com is on the way! What an exciting time we’re living in, minus the deteriorating environment and bad hardware mojo…
