Today is the day I strike fear into most Windows users’ hearts. For starters, if you are using Windows 9x/ME/XP, click here. If you’re using Windows 2000 or NT, click here instead. Assuming you click on the appropriate link and have your OS installed on your C drive, you should have noticed that a Microsoft End-User License Agreement popped up. Where did I get this from? Your hard drive, of course. If you look in the directory C:\%windir%\system32, where %windir% is the name of the directory that Windows is installed in on your system, you should find a file called eula.txt. Open that file up in a text editor like Notepad. Does it look similar to the text that popped up when you click on one of the above links? It should, because that’s where I got it from. Creepy :0 Just think of the possibilities. I’ll present other security flaws in the near future.

Now I want to rant. Certain Canadian bands that get popular in the US sux0rs! I recently read a Rolling Stone article from AvantGo on my Handspring Visor. This article was an interview with Chad Kroeger, lead singer of Nickelback. In the article, which can be viewed here, Mr. How You Remind me is a total 70s rock star cliche. He also has the nerve to put down the Matthew Good Band. Now I’m not a huge MGB fan, so this isn’t a case of someone bashing a favourite band of mine. His perception is that because MGB sell a tonne of CDs in Canada but can’t do the same in the US, that they’re jealous of Nickelback. I hate bands that gain a little popularity in the US, a la Our Lady Peace, and come back to Canada with egos the size of a stadium. At least when I hear an MGB song on the radio, I know who it is. When I hear a Nickelback song on the radio, I have to be careful not to confuse them with Creed, Default, Puddle of Sh…er Mudd, or any other horribly sub-par Pearl Jam rip-off. Mr. Kroeger should remember that if it wasn’t for a band like MGB, a record company talent scout might not have ventured to Canada’s west coast to check out their music scene. This is how I remind him…. 🙂
