chico outshines the olympics

February 27, 2002 under Computers, Life, Programming

It appears that the Olympics aren’t as important in Timmins as they are in other parts of the world. One of Timmins‘ newspapers, The Timmins Times has decided to put its focus on Chico instead of our gold medal-winning hockey teams. This article is the next step in Chico’s road to becoming Timmins‘ ultimate media whore; replacing the likes of Shania Twain, Steve Sullivan and my cuz Paul Bellini 😉

As for what I’ve been up-to lately, well it’s about 5-foot 8 inches 🙂 Survivor 4 starts this Thursday. Yawn. In the office at In-House Solutions we have a Survivor pool. Usually this involved choosing who will win immunity or luxury challenges and who will get booted at the end of an episode. I won the pool for Survivor 2 and came in third-place for Survivor 3 (I forgot to vote during one week). I don’t think I will watch the fourth incarnation of Survivor, however. It’s getting tired. Also, the Family Guy is on at the same time and that show is hilarious. In my second year of university, I lived with eight other people…I’ve lived Survivor on my own.

I know that I haven’t updated/finished this site in a while. I’ve been really busy at work. They let our IT guy go a couple weeks ago so I’ve taken on the extra duties on top of my current job. I should change my title from “Software Developer” to “All Things Digital Guru”. I think it’s a little big for our business cards, though 😉 Exchange development is a bitch and it’s even worse when a sudden rush has been put on it. Plus in my free time, I’m improving a product of mine that many in our office and elsewhere like. I won’t go into to detail about it, but it’s a tray application that I originally wrote in Visual Basic. However, I’ve received a lot of requests for new features recently and Visual Basic isn’t too accomodating when updating an app that I carelessly developed on a whim. So I’m developing the next version from scratch using C++ and taking into account that people actually like it a lot and will want it updated in the future. Plus I’ve never developed a tray app with C++ before 🙂

Oh, and I’m trying to win tickets to Wrestlemania in Toronto for Dena via a contest on the TSN show, Off The Record. That one is a killer 🙂
