suck i.t.

First off, IT stuff sux0rs large. Especially when it’s not your primary job function and you are not paid extra for the extra duties. That’s all I’m gonna say about that.

Dena’s back and refusing to watch the playoffs anymore now that the Leafs are out. I think it’s mostly because she has to wait ’till autumn to see Darcy “crazy eyes” Tucker on TV again (she thinks he’s cute…bah). From this point on, go Avs (my dad will be happy to hear me say that). I’d hate to see the ‘Canes win the Cup because most of their fans wouldn’t even appreciate it, what with all that incest and NASCAR keepin’ ’em too busy to appreciate the game of hockey. And I surely do not want the Wings to go any further. It’s not that I hate the Wings themselves. Hell, Steve Yzerman was my favorite player when I was growing up. It’s their fans that I can’t stand. As the guys in Sloan once sang, “It’s not the band I hate, it’s their fans”.

Here’s something potentially interesting…Barry came back from E3 inspired to be involved in the development of games (and he also paid me for that programming work I did on his CD!!!). He’s planning on doing some 3D modeling with 3D Studio Max. Some guy he works with at Dreamcatcher, named Russell, is apparently a wiz with Photoshop and a pretty good mapper on top of that. Now all they need is a software engineering-type guy to handle all that icky programming and stuff. Enter yours truly 😉 Instead of creating a 3D engine from scratch (which I don’t have the time or resources to learn and develop in a short amount of time), we’ll focus on making a descent mod for a released game using an established engine. I think it’s still up in the air as to which game the mod will be for, but I think we’re leaning towards an Unreal engine-based game such as Unreal Tournament 2003, since it’ll be the one of the first of the next-gen FPS games available to retail and there’s plenty of docs for developers already out there. The fact that I’m a monster fan of the first UT doesn’t hurt either 😉 So we’ll start from there and see what shakes. Who knows, maybe we’ll be driving Ferrari‘s like the folks at idSoftware. Hey, I got my own .plan file that I regularly update just like they do. It’s a start 🙂
