time for an upgrade

August 2, 2002 under Computers, Hardware, Software

I’ve noticed that I update my .plan less frequently during the summer months. Sorry ’bout that, folks. Don’t worry, nobody’s missing out on any major events, ’cause there aren’t any. I’ve finally sat down and spent some time with Warcraft 3 and now I’m hooked. The story alone is amazing. I’m only about ten maps into the game and there have already been two plot twists. I won’t say what they are since I don’t want to ruin the experience for those who haven’t been lucky enough to play it yet. Once I’ve completed the single player game, I’ll do the online multiplayer thing on Battle.net.

I’ve been mulling over a few things. The first…a new video card. In huge battles in Warcraft 3, my poor GeForce 256 is starting to show some age. Maximillion Computers over on Charles Street in Kitchener has some reasonably priced GeForce 4 Ti Series cards…perhaps a Ti 4400 will serve me well. If Warcraft 3 is killing my video card every once and a while, imagine what UT2K3 (coming in the next 2-3 months…demo soon) will do to it. I must be prepared. Speaking about UT2K3, Barry downloaded the leaked 927 build of it. Tisk tisk. I’m waiting for the demo instead of playing the vastly untweaked leak, which is a debug version anyway (those of you familiar with MSVC or software dev in general will know what I’m talking about). He did, however, send me a few screenies that looked pretty kewl, but some stuff has changed since the leak ummm…leaked. Second…a new system, but not any time soon. I’ll probably build my next one, just like I used to back in tha day. Third…a new look for this website o’ mine. But I have to finish Dena’s first 😉

Other than that, Dena’s other side of her family will be coming to visit us at some point next week so updates will probably be sparse again. Stay tuned 🙂
