strike it rich

This weekend, I managed to turn a measly toonie into $33.80 🙂 For the first Saturday this NHL season, I came out a winner with Proline. Take a look at my winning picks.

My luck’s been good, lately, which is unsettling I suppose. I finished up some nutty projects at work. One of them was developing reports for Business Vision, our accounting database, with Crystal Reports. It was crazy. Business Vision has to be one of the most poorly designed databases I’ve ever worked with. Its tables are barely normalized, at best. Due to this, I was never able to use any of Crystal Reports‘ built-in routines because they depend on good database design. All of those functions in our reports are Chris Bellini originals 🙂 The other project involved developing web-based tests for our trainers. Grading of the tests is accomplished via a wicked Perl script o’ mine. The trainers’ keep the scores in Excel spreadsheets. They had some weird requests that would take some time to explain, but in the end, my 1337 Visual Basic skills made it possible to generate graphs and data on the fly to drop into Word documents 😉

It must be the weather. The heat is a drag, but this snowy weather leaves me feelin’ fine 😀
