I’m back. My 60GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 8 died early last week. I replaced it (inexpensively through TechData, our hardware supplier at work) with a 120GB DiamondMax Plus 9. That drive died in a fury of loud clicking, because the head likely crashed into the platters, two days later. I then replaced that one with an 80GB DiamondMax Plus 9 from good ol’ Maximillion in downtown Kitchener and so far so good.

In the process of all the hard drives crashing, I had to rewrite my “stealth copy” apps for Dreamcatcher‘s (this is actually for Barry…I’m not doing anything for Dreamcatcher anymore ’cause they sux0r..still no cheque from them yet) CD to be distributed at this year’s E3 Expo in LA. I coded at a manical pace. I learned that MSVBVM60.DLL (the DLL required by any app written with Visual Basic) is not part of a clean Windows 98 install. If I was using an install program for my app such as one from InstallShield, MSVBVM60.DLL would automatically get installed. But my app is to be autorun’d from a CD so an install program is out of the question. My last-minute decision was to use Visual C++ instead. It uses MFC and thankfully so do many other app and features included with all versions of Windows, so I had no dependency worries.

I’m finding myself playing UT2K3 again. Epic released a few patches and a big bonus pack, and Digital Extremes released a bonus pack as well. UT2K3 is becoming palettable, much like the original UT 🙂 Oh, and the second round of the NHL playoffs is almost over. Go ‘Nucks!

Too exciting, isn’t it all? 😉
