get gone

May 16, 2003 under Life

Don’t expect a .plan update from me for the next ten days. Dena and I will be in Crystal Falls. That doesn’t mean that I definitely won’t post an update or two. If the wind gusts stay below 20 km/h, I just may be one crazy illin’ .plan-in mofo.

Since we’ll be gone for ten days and we used vacation days from work, this can be considered a vacation. I’ve never been too keen on vacations. I get bored easily if I’m not doing something productive and don’t really know how to be on vacation. This is probably because I’ve rarely had vacations. Life before university and the real world IS a vacation, so trips to Disney World and where ever during that time don’t count, IMO. Hockey tournaments may seem like a vacation since I got to miss school, but vacations they were not. Believe that. When home in Timmins from university for the summer, I worked…a lot. One summer at Norm Claire’s Pro Shop at the Hollinger Golf course, I worked 46 consecutive days including holidays and weekends (that has to be a Hollinger record of some sort). The summer before my last university semester, I worked two jobs, took a classes and did my senior software engineering project. It’s not that I want to be at work all the time; that’s inane on many levels. A break from the daily grind is fine with me, but I’d rather spend my free time tinkering and noodling (more OpenGL experimentation comes to mind). Like I’ve said before, different wirin’ in me noggin’ 😉

We’ll be back in Kitchener on the 27th; the day that Mogwai play Lee’s Palace, and we’re not going 🙁 Our two four-legged furballs will be taken care of in the meantime by Natalie, Dena’s boss’ daughter.

Now you’re in the know of all things Chris ‘n’ Dena. Happy May Two-Four!
