i'm so new skool it's sick

November 29, 2003 under Computers, Programming

Somedays, you have to vent. I just have to tear apart the C/C++ data types known as character pointers and character arrays. They have their place in this world, but I’ve been burned by them too often (and maybe for the last time) when trying to do any string parsing and manipulation. Albeit, said data types in static functions will wreak havoc with your nerves when strings contain something that you weren’t expecting. From now on, I’m sticking with MFC’s CString or STL’s string data types. You have to be impressed with the patience that yesteryear’s C and C++ programmers had before MFC and STL came along. End of rant.
