If you want to see pictures from our Christmas holidays in Crystal Falls, go here. You’re all so very lucky as there isn’t a single picture of yours truly in the bunch 😉
Speaking of Christmas, Dena’s sister, Kelle, got a dream interpretation book as one of her gifts. The other night I had a weird dream and that in itself is weird since I usually don’t recall dreaming. Anyway, in the dream Dena and I were in a mall. Sometimes it could’ve been the Timmins Square in Timmins or Fairview Mall in Kitchener or Square One in Mississauga or The Station Mall in the Soo. In the mall was Jack White from the White Stripes and he was working at a blood donation booth. He was drawing blood from volunteers and making up songs on the fly about random things like what the person was wearing, swaping vials and so on.
What is that supposed to mean? I didn’t ace psychology in university 😉
People are complaining about this stormy weather that we’ve been having but it doesn’t bother me. I’m from frickin’ Timmins! 😉
Happy Chinese New Year!
On an unrelated note, this wintery weather we’ve been having comes as a mixed blessing. Being a northern boy, all of the snow and chilly temperatures are welcome. But the sourthern Ontario drivers…ugh. I can’t stress enough how horrible people drive down here in the winter. This is weird….yesterday, I was cut off by two separate Lexus LX‘s. Derive what you will about Lexus SUV drivers from that little tidbit.
For those of you eagerly anticipating the day when I post the pictures from our Christmas trip to Crystal Falls, sit tight. I’ll be posting them on HP Photo. I know it’s kind of a lame thing to do, but I’m nearing my disk space quota on the ol’ web server. I’ll let you folks know when the pictures are ready for prime time.
Dead Alive was also on Scream last Friday, immediately after Evil Dead 2. Dead Alive was directed by Peter Jackson. He’s known for directing all of the Lord of the Rings movies, but Dead Alive is a treat 😉
You have to try Unibroue‘s Trois Pistoles. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the end of a week of coding, or whatever it is that you do. Be warned, that’s 9% APV in there.
I hope the Carolina pound the hell out of Tom Brady in the Superbowl. I would rather see the Colts there because I think Payton Manning is an awesome QB and it would’ve been kewl to see fellow Canadian Mike Vanderjagt in the Superbowl. Go Panthers!
Evil Dead 2 is on Scream tonight. There couldn’t be a finer way to start the weekend 😉
How Not to Program in C++: 111 Broken Programs and 3 Working Ones, or Why Does 2+2=5986; a crazy funny book. I think I’ve mentioned that before but I’ll say it again since I just finished it.
I found out last night that my mom was adopted. It suddenly became difficult to see to the bottom of the gene pool.
When I came back to work last Friday, I was greeted by a dead hard drive. Dead in that it was able to receive power and spin up, but it was undetectable by the BIOSs of three separate computers. The new one that I ordered showed up on Monday and I’m just now close to being back. It’s a good thing that I back up all of my projects to my computer at home. I think that’s a fairly safe offsite backup. What a way to start off 2004.
Delta did a fine job of getting us around. If they don’t love to fly, it didn’t show 😉
For Dena and I, it was our first Christmas together in six years. Our holiday consisted of plenty of gift-giving, meat, baseless and trite anti-Canadian jokes, highway driving, computer maintenance, card playing, snow and holiday cheer. It was a nice break from the daily grind and a good time was had, but at the same time it’s good to be back in Kitchener again. The bottle of Keith’s I had last night when we got home tasted extra sweet. I would’ve liked to forgo the bottle entirely and opt for a pint of Keith’s or Moosehead fresh from the tap at nearby Bogey’s or even the Firkin in Cambridge, but Dena wasn’t feeling up to par. Our New Year’s Eve’s are usually uneventful and this year was no different. It’s becoming tradition that she get sick in her final days of a visit to Crystal Falls. Stay tuned for pictures from our time in Crystal Falls. Happy 2004!
PS: I’ll never take high-speed Internet connections for granted again 😉
