us influx = rad

There’s alreay 600,000 of them living here (Dena included) but it appears that more Americans may be moving north of the border. Here’s an article from Reuters. It also mentions a hilarious website. Save an American from living under the rule of Bush and Marry An American 🙂

I picked up Pavement‘s re-issue of Crooked Rain Crooked Rain called Crooked Rain Crooked Rain: L.A.’s Desert Origins and listening to it enduced a wave of nostalgia that Barry and I were discussing a couple of evenings ago. The “standard fare” part of the album (the original Crooked Rain Crooked Rain) is nice but the extras and unreleased material is what hit us. It’s the familiar Pavement that we loved in highschool, but the extras and unreleased songs are new. It’s like we just scrounged some money together, bought the new Pavement album and we’ll listen to it in between classes and lunch. Then we’ll hum the songs in our head during class, falsely remembering lyrics that are new to us. For me Pavement = high school (and university somewhat), very much so. Hell, at the party at Trudy Morden’s house on graduation night, Barry and I were in front of a radio aplifier plugging in a walkman into the external audio jack to listen to a Wowee Zowee cassette while shitty dance music played in the background. Come to think of it, where the hell was Pat; the missing piece of the Pavement fan trifecta? I know he was at the party ’cause we showed up together, but for that moment, I have no clue where he was. Pat, leave a comment if you can remember an excuse for missing out on piercing the bad music with Wowee Zowee.
