growing metal horns

March 3, 2005 under Music

It has to be Reading Week/Spring Break since the drives to and from work aren’t rediculously slow and aggrivating.

Now anyone who knows me can assure you that I’m no metal head. I just know that lately, I’ve been way into Isis. The weirdest part is that they’re considered a metal band but they sure don’t fall into any of the metal categories I’m aware of. They’re heavy…very heavy. But their effect is definitely wall-of-noise style with lots of low-end (no blistering guitar solos). There’s vocals, sort of, but they’re usually groweled and burried very deep in the mix like My Bloody Valentine or Cocteau Twins and that’s ok. Panopticon and Oceanic are definitely two albums worth checking out. Play them while you’re debugging code that you know should be mint, or whatever it is that you do 😉

PS: Hi to everyone from the forum on eMastercam.com who found their way here via the “Forum Neighborhood 2005” thread in the Off Topic section 🙂
