Dena and I are back from our trip up north with all of the grad parties, relaxed pace and whatnot. As per my custom of describing Crystal Falls visits with one or two-word quips, here goes; tuna salad, Mooch, mononucleosis, more tuna salad, Johnny One Ball, wood ticks, pontoon boat, Windows 98 and even more tuna salad.
PS: I got the Pearl Jam tickets! It was a little scary at first since the tickets went on sale at 10AM (9AM Central) and Ticketmaster was never able to find any tickets. I was on a dial-up connection that topped out at 19.5 KB/sec and kept getting bumped in Centre in the Square‘s ticket queue and their 1-800 number was always busy, so we hustled over to Dena’s mom’s house to use their DSL connection. Success 🙂
Tomorrow, Dena and I will be heading up to Crystal Falls for the next 10 days. Pearl Jam tickets for their show at the Aud this coming September go on sale on May 28th. Depending on where in Crystal Falls we are on that day, I may be purchasing them via a wind-sensitive Internet connection. I will definitely be doing what needs to be done to get those tickets. It’ll be similar to the die-hards at the nearby Silver City this morning who lined up and were decked out in their Star Wars costumes waiting for Revenge of the Sith tickets. All of the companies who employ these Star Wars fanatics must have empty offices today.
Remember back in January when Queens of the Stone Age first released “Little Sister” as a single? And remember when I mentioned that the song’s cow bell reminded me of Will Ferrell? Last night on SNL, Will Ferrell was the host and QotSA were the musical guest. I mentioned to Dena that it would be hilarious, since the circumstances were perfect, if Will Ferrell would join the band on the stage smacking a cow bell in his garb from the original Blue Oyester Cult skit. And sure enough, about a minute into the “Little Sister” performance, it happened. Hilarious 🙂
I’ve put Web surfin’ on the back burner and email newsletters are gettin’ the proverbial boot, too. I prefer RSS and Atom feeds to keep up with Blogs and newsfeeds. I subscirbe to Pat‘s and Chico‘s feeds; I used to subscribe to Barry‘s but he’s been messing around with his site and his blog is currently MIA. I get newsfeeds from Slashdot, DevX, Code Project, Tom’s Hardware, MSDN and more. I use Thunderbird‘s the built-in feed reader. Everything feels more organized now.
Dena is finally able to work again. It took longer and more work than neccessary to get her work permit reinstated, but it’s finally done. A small victory 🙂
Happy VE Day, everyone!
I know how I can make Dena a very happy girl. It appears that Pearl Jam is coming to the Aud in Kitchener this coming September 11th:
PJ Tour Schedule
If I get tickets, what I hero I would be 😉
PS: Hearing “O Canada” playing in the background when you’re on the front page of Pearl Jam‘s website is kinda funny.
