the reason for the season

December 15, 2006 under Christmas, political correctness

In the past couple of weeks, I’ve noticed something. More people have said “Merry Christmas” to me lately, than they have in the past few years. I’ve heard it at the bank, car dealership, and in stores. “Happy Holidays” seems to have fallen out of fashion this year. I wonder what the cause is: Middle Eastern tensions, the fact that this guy runs the show, people are tired of political correctness?

One Response to "the reason for the season"

As you and I had this conversation this morning, my reason behind saying Happy Holidays has NOTHING to do with political correctness. I say Happy Holidays to include both Christmas and New Years and because I am lazy and do not want to say “Merry Christmas AND Happy New Years” – I combine them into the short “Happy Holidays”. Further, I find that people in general, have an attention span of 5 seconds, so in order to ensure they HEAR my wishes, I find Happy Holidays is short enough to get out before they turn their attention to something other than me.

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE 🙂
