Happy Hallowe’en! Did everyone survive Devil’s Night?
October 29th=Dena’s birthday
By her calculations she’s 24 or 25 but in actuality, she’s 27 years-old 😛 Happy Birthday to my Chickypoo! 🙂
Today is one of the best days in the year….the day we set the clocks back. I’m not a goth or black-glad doom and gloomer, I just like cool weather and dark. That doesn’t make me weird. I think it’s just part of what makes me a northern boy, through and through. Hey, how she go there, yous guys there? 😉
Happy six-year anniversary to Dena and I! I know, I know…”when’s the wedding?” Shut up, ya’ll 😉
Now that Dena’s in Crystal Falls for the next ten days, I’m a single dad 😉 I guess it’s safe to say that she’s had a long day today. Airways Transit picked her up at 3:45AM this morning to take her to Pearson in the T-Dizzle. Her two flights went well. Here’s a picture of Dena somewhere between Guelph and K/W. Here’s another picture of Dena somewhere between Mount Pleasant and Cadillac about to run into some rain.
I think I’ll work on my tasks for justCheckers this weekend. Maybe we’ll have a playable version available for download soon.
Like I mentioned yesterday, I’m not one who is easily influenced by hype-machines. Should I jump on the hell-freezing-over band wagon? Hmmm, nah. iTunes for Windows? The best Windows app ever? Steve Jobs must have a big-ass cauldron full of hype that’s bubblin’ like, um, bubblin’ hype. This is not unlike everything else that Apple has ever done. But c’mon, “the best”? I don’t think so. Apple is often reiterating that it’s free. Well, that’s a plus since Mac owners have to shell out mega bucks for their computers to begin with. I tried iTunes and I don’t like it personally. Sure it has a portal to Apple‘s paid music downloads and now gives Windows users a reason to get a geek-chic iPod. That’s all fine and good. But do I need to sacrafice 11MB of RAM for this, the best Windows app ever? I don’t think so. I’ll stick with Winamp 2.91 (also free), which is apparently NOT the best Windows app ever. If I want to download purchased music, I don’t need a portal; I can use PureTracks and keep my cash in Canada at the same time (Visa is an American company and it shows). Also, Winamp 2.91 barely uses 2.5MB of RAM while it’s running on my system (Winamp 3 used 5MB). What’s the definition of the best Windows app ever? Let the hype-machine roll, Steve-O.
I’m not the type of person who buys into hype-machines, so I never saw The Matrix: Reloaded during its theatre run. We rented it this weekend and I thought it was pretty good. Anyway, here’s some more filler…random thoughts and observations to occupy this space until I have something Earth-shattering to say.
Another Oktoberfest has come and gone. It’s hard to win at Pro Line this early in the NHL season. I’m likin’ Mozilla‘s email client. Where’s all the opportunities in the Technology Triangle? The triangle seems more like a down-turned spline for those who know the right people (I obviously don’t). I’m becoming a bigger fan of Java each day. I cannot get WinCVS to work on SourceForge. When’s that new Built To Spill album coming out? I’m going to work on justCheckers and read a lot when Dena’s in Crystal Falls this/next week. Uncle Lee’s Jasmine Green tea is awesome. This weather was the best for working in Norm Claire’s Pro Shop at the Hollinger Golf Club. Reminder: get our skates sharpened. Reminder: clean our golf clubs. Reminder: get paid what I’m worth.
Happy Thanksgiving (or Columbus Day for some)!
